Collicutt Energy Services
About the Company
Cody Collicutt, Owner
We’re able to deliver the same product every time, like McDonald’s. When you buy a Big Mac, it’s the same anywhere in the world. That’s what I feel like we’ve been able to do, and its improved the quality control of our organization.
The Challenge: Inflexible Internal Systems
In July 2026, Commusoft CEO Jason Marjoria traveled to Red Deer, Alberta, to speak with Collicutt Energy Services Owner Cody Collicutt about his team’s onboarding and experience with our platform. They had recently onboarded Commusoft for the service side of their business, which oversaw the maintenance and upkeep of large industrial generators.
Prior to partnering with Commusoft, Collicutt’s service arm managed its operations through its own custom, but rigid, internal systems. As Cody explains:
We created our own infrastructure, but it required extensive IT maintenance and we were down all the time.
Under this system, Collicutt struggled to manage its internal database and field service operations. Custom forms, job reports, customers, and service offerings all proved difficult to maintain and adjust, compounding inefficiencies until frontline staff began to feel the heat
We had a lot of customer complaints because of this.
Cody sought out a solution and discovered Commusoft.
Two things stood out to him right away. The first was our commitment to customer success, with dedicated teams who help guide the onboarding experience and get companies up and running on the platform, often in a matter of weeks. This helped alleviate concerns about trading one imperfect system for another and undertaking an overhaul that could put his operations out of action for a long period.
The second was how easily Commusoft could share data with SAP, which Collicutt was already leveraging independently. Passing key information between the two systems ensured the transition would not affect reporting.
The Solution: Guided Checklists and Dispute Protection
Guided Checklists
To solve the primary issue with Collicutt’s former internal system, the inflexible forms, the team leveraged Commusoft’s custom forms and on-site tasks to help standardize work and information capture on highly complex industrial equipment.
I have been able to guide our technicians with how we want jobs done so we’re able to deliver the same product every time, like McDonald’s . When you buy a Big Mac, it’s the same anywhere in the world. That’s what I feel like we’ve been able to do, and its improved the quality control of our organization.
Cody has found Commusoft’s field workflows a great fit.
the best part about your guys’ forms is how, our frontline staff can make them. We don’t have to use IT to make them. That’s my most favorite part about your program.
Eliminating Dispute Costs with Photo Proof
Beyond standardizing workflows, Commusoft’s photo-capture capabilities provided Collicutt with concrete visual evidence on every job site. Before, the company faced costly callouts and customer disputes over site conditions.
We get a lot of callouts saying that our technician didn’t leave the unit in auto, and that’s why their generator didn’t start. Well, now we have a picture to help defend ourselves: ‘that’s the picture he took when he was last there.’
By forcing mandatory photo capture prior to job completion, Collicutt protected its frontline staff from unfair complaints and eliminated unnecessary return trips.
Looking to the Future with Commusoft
With flexible, IT-free job forms and reliable photo documentation now embedded in daily operations, Cody and his team have built an operational model that scales effortlessly. Field technicians can be guided through complex jobs to reduce customer friction, and management can update service offerings or forms instantly without touching a line of code.
When asked if this newfound consistency and operational clarity will power the company’s long-term expansion, Cody’s answer is simple:
Yes, very much so.
